Chaklin is operated by Patounezambo Ouedraogo d/b/a Chaklin, which is the data controller for personal data processed through chaklin.com. For student work you submit for grading, you (or your school) are the controller and we act as your processor, handling that data only on your instructions. Contact us any time at support@chaklin.com.
We do not sell personal data, we do not run advertising, and we do not use your content or student submissions to train AI models.
Generation and grading requests are sent to AI model providers through our AI gateway so the model can return content or a score. Requests are processed to serve you and are not used by us or, under our provider terms, by the model providers to train models. Outputs may be inaccurate — you review everything before it reaches a student or parent.
Chaklin is sold to teachers and schools, not to children. Students do not create Chaklin accounts: they open an assignment link, answer, and submit. We ask for no more than a student name or identifier supplied by you, we never ask students for contact details, and we do not profile students or target them with marketing. Where a school directs us as a school official under FERPA, we use student data only for the educational purpose you set and delete it on request. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 outside such a school relationship. If you believe a student's data was sent to us in error, email support@chaklin.com and we will delete it.
Connecting Google Classroom is optional. When you connect it we store encrypted access and refresh tokens so we can list your courses, post assignments, and write scores back to your gradebook. We request the narrowest scopes needed, never read student data beyond the coursework you posted through Chaklin, and never share Google user data with third parties. Disconnect at any time on the Integrations page — the tokens are deleted and access stops immediately.
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses with appropriate safeguards.
Account data is kept while your account is active. Generated materials are kept until you delete them or close your account. Student work and grading artefacts follow your plan's retention schedule and are then deleted automatically. Billing and usage records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. When data is no longer needed we delete or anonymise it. Request full account and content deletion at any time by emailing support@chaklin.com.
Depending on where you live you may ask us to give you access to your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, port it elsewhere, or withdraw a consent you gave (for example the Google Classroom connection). Most of this you can do yourself in the app; for anything else email support@chaklin.com and we will respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA you can also complain to your supervisory authority.
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures: encrypted connections, encryption at rest, row-level database access control so teachers only reach their own records, restricted internal access, and audited administrative actions. No system is perfectly secure, so we also keep the personal data we hold to the minimum the service needs.
We use strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your language, and secure checkout. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though sign-in will stop working.
We may update this notice as the service evolves and will tell you about material changes by email or in the app. Questions, requests or complaints: support@chaklin.com. See also our Terms of Service and Refund Policy.
